titre join us

To actively participate in the League’s activities, you must become a member.

To do so, you are asked to fulfil three conditions:

  1. Payment of an annual membership fee of €25 in September;
  2. A standing monthly payment of an amount at your discretion;
  3. Signing our online anti-speciesist petition.

The €25 annual membership fee is our suggested amount. However, this is merely a guide and, of course, you are free to pay a lower amount depending on your personal financial circumstances (please state ‘annual membership fee’ in your payment reference so that we understand)

Why a standing monthly order? As the saying goes, it is the small streams that make the great rivers. Please consider making a small monthly donation. Imagine if we had 200 members each paying us €10 a month. Our non-profit organisation would receive a monthly total of €2,000. For many large non-profit organisations working in ‘animal welfare’, such as Gaia or L214, this amount is negligible, but for our organisation, it would be a tremendous help, enabling us to make much faster and more steady progress towards achieving our statutory objectives. Furthermore, this contribution should also help you to reflect on the meaning of your commitment. A sum of €1 is sufficient to fulfil this requirement. It is up to you to consider the practical support you wish to provide for the emergence of political anti-speciesism.

Finally, signing our online petition is absolutely essential.

However, you are welcome to attend our campaigns announced on our social networks as an observer to get to know us better and/or to find out if our association meets your personal objectives. In this case, the L.I.A. would appreciate it if you would let us know about your participation via social networks.

The League has three categories of membership: effective members, associate members and supporting members. Each status offers its own potential.

To join us, the first step is to become a supporting member.

Supporting membership is acquired following a spontaneous request from the candidate addressed to the association via our website (Contact us).

For more information on your status, please refer to Articles 7 to 11 of the League’s statutes (Legal informations).

Associate membership of the association can only be acquired following a prior written or verbal invitation from the Board of Directors addressed to the associate member.

The supporting member becomes an associate member by decision of the general meeting on the simple proposal of the Board of Directors.

Associate members are not part of the General Assembly but may be invited by the Board of Directors to attend as observers.

As an associate member, you may be invited to participate in the association’s working meetings, deliberate and make your voice heard. In addition, the Board of Directors may offer you a specific mandate for a key position within the association.

As an associate member, you will be given priority information about the League’s activities, which you will also have the opportunity to finalise.

For more information about your status, please refer to Articles 7 to 11 of the League’s statutes (Legal informations).

Effective members of the association are those members admitted as such by the general meeting on the basis of a specially motivated proposal from the board of directors.

Effective membership can only be acquired following a prior written or oral invitation from the board of directors addressed to the member.

Effective members participate in the association’s general meeting and have the right to vote. They may also be entrusted by the board of directors with a specific mandate for a key position within the association.

Effective members are invited by the board of directors to participate in the association’s working meetings, where they may deliberate and have their say.

As an effective member, you will be given priority information about the League’s activities, which you will also have had the opportunity to influence.

For more information about your status, please refer to Articles 7 to 11 of the League’s Articles of Association (Legal informations).

If you have the right profile to take on responsibilities within the League, this is entirely possible.

Various positions may be offered to you directly by the Board of Directors, subject to approval by the General Assembly.

Only effective and associate members are eligible for specific positions.

The list of specific assignments can be found under the ‘Jobs’ tab.
