The L.I.A. takes an abolitionist stance and categorically condemns any form of appropriation, exploitation, oppression and violations of their fundamental rights to which non-human animals may be subjected.
However, its stance is not dogmatic, and it supports all measures designed to help and assist animals that are suffering and/or deprived of their essential fundamental rights, provided that such measures aim to move as soon as possible towards the abolition of all forms of animal exploitation.
The League condemns all forms of systemic oppression and discrimination perpetrated against all human and non-human animals. It draws the historical and structural link between the various forms of discrimination and exploitation suffered by all human and non-human animals (racism, genderism, sexism, masculinism, patriarchy, ageism, ableism, classism, etc.).
Although it focuses its activist work on the animal cause, the L.I.A. stands in solidarity with all social liberation struggles.
The L.I.A. is a political association that is undeniably part of the socialist tradition, whose original aims are to campaign for social equality and a reduction in the inequalities and oppression affecting a certain section of the human population and all non-human beings in this world.
Anti-speciesism is purely political. Its programme aims, in particular, to:
1. Abolish speciesism ;
2. Abolish all forms of appropriation, denigration, hierarchisation, disparagement, ostracism, humiliation, exploitation, discrimination and oppression suffered by sentient human and non-human beings ;
3. To grant other animals presumed to be sentient functional legal personality and the fundamental rights that derive from it.
The League declares its intrinsic solidarity with all social, racial, political and cultural minorities.
The League is an independent organisation. It also declares itself to be free from any economic interests, whether private or public.
The L.I.A. is an openly environmentalist organisation that campaigns against global warming, species extinction, the destruction and pollution of ecosystems and natural habitats, and climate inequalities. Our organisation condemns all the catastrophic consequences associated with the farming, exploitation and consumption of non-human animals in terms of public health, pollution, global warming, greenhouse gas emissions, the waste of natural resources, the squandering of public funds, the encroachment on natural spaces and territories, etc.
The League supports all forms of initiative aimed at making diets more plant-based and at informing citizens of the harmful consequences of a meat-based diet.
It is not dogmatic. It does not criticise, condemn or ostracise vegetarians or those who are reducing their meat consumption, provided they declare themselves to be fully aware of their individual responsibilities regarding the atrocities involved in carnism and wish to transition towards a vegan lifestyle.
The League therefore aims to be inclusive and tolerant. It recognises the difficulties faced by everyone and supports all efforts and goodwill aimed at working together, as soon as possible, towards the abolition of all forms of exploitation and violence against other animals and towards veganism.
